The FD motor I have doesn't have the harness.... We all know parts like that are gold, so I'm looking at other options.

How hard would it be to convert my S4 TII harness to work on the REW?

I'm assuming the answers I'm going to get will be "save yourself the trouble and buy the FD harness/ECU".

Eventually I want to run the Apex PowerFC on it, with those I could use either the FC or FD harness.

so I'm assuming right now your gonna run it with the stock twins.

i really dont see any way in hell you can "convert" a TII harness to run a stock twin system for an fd (now if you were going single turbo icould see a possibility but...)_. they are completely different systems and the fd has a shitload of solneoids which the fc doesnt have!

i suggest you buy the ecu on here the forum or ebay (they can be found for cheap)

and i suggest you call Ray@ Malloy mazda and buy a new harness (around $750)

even IF you can find a used fd harness they are all 15 years old now, crispy, and you will most likely be paying decent $ for a "iffy" crispy harness so just save yourself the time, $, and aggravation and just get yourself a new one from Ray.

hes a fellow rx7 owner (fd) who helps us rx7 guys out so make sure you call and ask for him the other people will not give you the rx7forum discount price https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif Ray@ malloy mazda= 1-888-533-3400

oh and dont forget an fd pfc cost less than an fc pfc for some reason (at least the places ive seen...) sothe cost to you equals out in the end so your not "spending" any more going with a new fd harness.-

good luck with your project. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Oh yes..... I wasn't even thinking about conrolling that nest of sequential turbo crap. Good point.

Yes, I will be running the stock turbo setup. I think the unit was replaced with the Efini turbo setup or something. I don't have the motor yet, but hopefully will soon.

Also a good point about a BBQ'd harness. SOB. heh

Perhaps I'll just run Haltec and be cheaper all together. shrug

Yeah, The PFC for the 2nd gens are insanity! I'm actually a PowerExcel dealer now, that's why I wanted to run Apex.

thanks for the input. I guess I'll start looking into Haltec now.

Actually.... Is the RHD harness usable at all in this case? Probably be much easier to find a newer/more good'er condition one of those....

if you like doing wiring work than it is https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

i believe you need to extend a few of the wires but no big deal if you dont mind doing a little extra wiring

however keep in mind the "CRISPYNESS" factor of the harness is STILL a factor, the intense heat from the factory twins contributes to broken/crispy harness very quickly much quicker than any other rx7. i gotta replace the crispy harness in my own fd soon...it is in worse shape than my other much older rx7s including my 85 . basically its the heat from the twin turbos that cooks em super quick lol

so it comes back to the actual quality of the used harness whether jdm or usdm. I still think you will be VERY hard pressed to find a "good condition" used one.- and again for the prices many are asking for a good one you could almost buy a new one.

seriously just get a new one. you will be much better off. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Yeah, it'd be nice to have some A'PEXi pride in the car....

Eff it all... I'm just gonna throw a small block in it.

My answer to everything - standalone https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

The haltech is good - but if you were going to try and save some $$ I'd look into running the twins non-sequential and picking up a megasquirt system. My friend uses one w/ his 13B PP, and it seems to run fine - cant really say much more than I know it runs well.. worth looking into at least.

UnNatural 06-26-2007 08:24 PM

Forgot to mention I'm going to be running the sequentials.....

harness and PowerFC it is.
