i 'll be glad to anyone could tell me how to recongnise the 3 different types of 13b.the one from gsl-se,the turbo II one and the 89-91n/a when you see it off the car.
i also want you to insist me which should be the best swap for my 81(12a). |
The turbo is easy, there is a large intercooler and turbo on top of the motor.
The GSL-SE 13B is also easy, it has a distributor where all of the 86 to 91 models were electronic ignition and sport a little block off plate of the distributor hole. Hope that answered everything. |
I'd show ya pics of each, but I am having trouble, my right button is not working. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

I don't have any 86 to 91 13B non turbo pics on me....

Here is a link to some pics of my 88 vert. It has been moded, so a stock NA won't look quite like this. Also the S5 (89 - 91) NA engine was a little diff. from the S4 (86 - 88).

ok,but how can i recognise each series when the engine is off the car and just the block?

Look at the oil metering pump (see the picture) if it has a rod going up to the throttle body, then it is a S4.
|
The 84-85 will also have the engine mounted by a bar which goes across the bottom of the front cover but in '86 the engine mounts moved to the side of the engine
