I need to find a switched power wire somewhere under the hood so the fan runs anytime the car is on. Right now, I have it rigged to a wire in the interior and I dont trust it.



I found this write up online that said "find the electrical connector for the AAS on the driver side shock tower, a 6 plug design, white connector, with 4 actual metal connections inside". My car doesnt have AAS and I dont see this connector. What else can I use to run the electric fan without running a constant 12v with a switch inside the interior?

 

On the FD we have the EGI relay and Circuit opening relay. Both are mounted close to the battery. The EGI turns on power to the ECU, and the Circuit opening relay turns on power to the fuel pump. If you have the wiring diagram for your car, find these circuits and tap one of them.

 

the green plug located near the drivers headlight by the inginition coil.....i think its the middle hole in the plug

 

all of the s4 cars have the aas wiring, its a white plug theres one on each shock tower. thats what i'm using for a switched power.

ok, cool, I must have overlooked it... so can I run this fan off of it? I did blow one 15amp fuse with the fan so far but I think it was due to the power wire being run so far in and the weak connection I had.

if you want you can use the aas of switched power and the empty hole in the fuse box under the hood for fused high amp power, you can put a fuse in there and a wire to the fan, works great

I'll have to get one. I just got a multi meter, maybe I can use that?

 

A multimeter would work.

 

just remember that those plugs are just for switched power to turn it on... you still need a relay wired to the battery to give full power to the fan. other wise like you said. you will blow fuses and maybe melt wires.
