i got a turbo timer out of a junkyard its one of the old hks ones ~~~>http://park7.wakwak.com/~allmobil/hkst3.jpg
well i need help with getting this installed on the 88 t2, the harness is cut and it was hooked rite into the ignition of the car i took it out of. if you know any site with a write-up on this or know how to hard wire this in could you please help me. thanks |
I cant really talk because I have one to, but our cars are water cooled so they dont need a turbo timer. Its really an unessasary item to put in.
I hate it when people say that. It all depends on how you drive. I have nuked the oil on my wet center turbos many a times. |
Dude, you prob did that cause you were stupid, you were probably boosting ur ass off then came to a stop and turned the car right off. People like that shouldnt own a turbo car in the first place. Nice and easy driving before you come to a stop is plenty of time to let the fc's turbos cool off. |

BE EASY GUYS,, i wasnt trying to flame any sparks around here. just trying to save a buck or two out of a timer.
|
if they don't need a Turbo timer with the water cooling and they last almost forever, whats it going to hurt by installing one? it's only going to make it last longer in theory no?
|
cant we all be nice HOLY CRAP lol any ways i think what drunkin idiot is trying to say is that you dont need it but if you want it it woulnt hurt and that one guy just fing EXPLODED on him and that aint cool
THANK YOU, thats exactly what it meant, at least some one comprehended it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif I said in the first place I installed one, i just said you shouldnt waste ur money on something that isnt mandetory. |
I don't like leaving my car running without monitoring water temp. Call me paranoid but just kinda seems like youre asking for an overheat
|
if you ask me, you can never overdue turbo (or motor) maitenance. So i say, if the car is your daily driver, use it, because your not going to want to sit in your care for a minute or two every time you drive somewhere and have to get out of the car.
on my car, i don't have one, but that's because it's my weekend car, and when i beat on it, i always gradually cool it down, and then when i park it in my garage, i put a 18" fan on my engine bay on a timer to help bring temps back down. also, coolant is only productive (removes heat) when it is being circulated so once the car is shut off, it does little or nothing to bring temps back down, but the idea of the coolant is to never the let the turbo get so damn hot in the first place. I think the truth is somewhere in center field here. |
internet drama? wtf? by calling me stupid driver, and saying not worthy to drive a turbo car?? LOL c'mon. anyways just because I have low post count, does not mean im a "noob." I have had 60-1's and various A/R 60 trims on my vehicle. What about you? stock. LOL! I never even said I destryed turbos (you really need to learn how to read) I said it all depends on how you drive, since different people drive differently. You really need to watch what you say, especially when you do not know what you are talking about. |
