I decide to toy with my car once again tonight. First off my boost controller really sucks? It's a MBC that you fiddle with in the car. Anyways since i freed up my exhaust, i really dont think it serves a purpose since my boost creeps up to 10 by 5k rpm no matter what. But here's the kicker. Probably since my engine is cold when i first start it boost hits an 8.5 psi max and it revs fine past 5k. Then it warms up and i creep to 10 by 5k rpms in any gear. But usually with an MBC over stock boost feels like more of a kick in the pants instead of just a slow rise which it does now. 3k i have 5 psi, 4k i have 7, then 5k i have 10. Anyways si o decide to tighten the adjuster thing all the way down for kicks. Boost shoots way past 10, i'm like whoa, let off no damage done but shouldnt there have been fuel cut? I didnt notice any sort of let off. I'm completely baffled as to what's going on.

first: dont boost / rev when engine is cold

second: GET A ******* FCD!!!! THERES NO WAY TO BEAT THE SYSTEM!

unless you get a stand alone ecu that bypasses the stock fuel cut... YOU NEED A FCD

either get a fcd or stop bitching about the problem...you ask so many times...and this is the answer like many others have told you russ

Well, other than the FCD thing though. Why does my car go past 10 psi without it shutting down? And do all boost controlllers act like this? When my friend put one in his 944T there was a huge difference, with the one i have now all i know is that i leave the knob pretty much open and when i tighten it down boost goes past 10 psi but it still doesnt build any faster.

your boost controller just regulates boost

it will not give a different feeling

its the turbo that feels diff

tightening the spring also will give more boost....

Well the mbc my friend got for his car it keeps the wastegate shut until peak boost is built, versus the stock one that just lets it build slowly. Like it just BAM shoots to 10 psi then he hits peak 14 way faster than before. I also read on scott89t2's website that he noticed boost building much quicker after the boost controller install.

Lastly, i'm still not sure why i'm hitting 10 psi. My car isnt that modded all i have is dp/mp, i'm still running stock catback and stock TID. I also have a mildly ported wastegate. So shouldnt boost stay down even without any sort of boost control?

FrestyleFC3S 01-31-2004 09:56 PM

with no cats you have NO RESTRICTIONS in your exhaust....

thats just how it is

either put your cats back on....or get a FCD

and clean ur injectors

What about that part?

And my car still did the 5k hesistation WHEN I HAD CATS!!!

I still dont see how i could be hitting 10psi with both cats intact, stock catback and stock TID with just a cone filter slapped on.

well again...like i said from the beginning...i dont think its fuel cut....i think your injectors suck!

fuel cut isnt like... you hit it and when its normal again it stops fuel cut..

fuel cut will cut fuel and make the car run like ****...you gotta reset the car basically by turning it off and back on

its not a 5k hesitation

what your problem is, i think at least, is that at 5k the amount of fuel your car needs to inject isnt getting supplied due to clogged/dirty injectors..

meaning that it gets hesistant around that rpm

i dont think you should overcomplicate yourself with too many problems at once..... seriously...you have like 3...all elevating from one main problem...fix the first at hand, and work from there...

i have an fcd that i'll sell ya for cheap..

take the MBC out of the interior, long lines will cause boost creep as well, and it takes away the urge to reach down and turn it up in a race. shorten the lines and I bet you notice a difference.
