I have a 88 GTU and bout to purchase a 89 RX-7.. I have a good feeling that its GTU also.. how can u tell that its a GTU? second question.. assuming that its a GTU what is the difference between a S5 and S4 GTU? any significant increase in power..... i heard that S5 engines have lighter rotors... is that true or a myth? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

the 88 gtu is a base car with turbo seats and mirrors.
in 89 the gtu is a base model. but in 89 you get the 160hp engine with lighter rotors, power windows, power steering. |

88 GTU is the base model with all the good performance stuff, 4 piston calipers, vented rear rotors, slightly stiffer suspension, different gear ratios, lsd, cool interior, etc.
89 GTU is the plane jane base model, no lsd, but Mazda made a bunch of stuff standard equipment in the S5's. There is the GTUs wich is the same concept as the 88 GTU..... |
