I'm getting a 91 TII next week and I was wondering if the fuel pump out of an 03 Mustang Cobra would work? I believe it flows in the neighborhood of 250 to 275 lph, and is about half the price of a Walbro. I was going to use a Walbro 255, but I've heard that people sometimes have problems with poor idle or running really rich at idle. According to a friend of mine, the Cobra pump has solved that problem with a lot of Mustang owners. Logic tells me that if Mustang people can switch from a Walbro to a Cobra fuel pump, then why can't we use the Cobra FP. I'm sure I'm wrong, but I was wondering if anyone knew if this was possible. Thanks in advance.

hmmm....most of the time i think the walbro come in "kits".......im guessing the mustang / cobra ones would be kitted for those cars....but you could get it to work

how much do the cobra pumps cost ... half a walbro? ... 60 bucks?

I didn't know that the Walbro came as a kit. Every time I've seen it, it just seemed like a universal pump. I've never bought one though, so I don't know. As for the Cobra pump, I'm pretty sure its not a Walbro. Apparently it is a dual pump, so it won't have the idle problems the Walbro does. I know a lot of people use the Walbro, so I guess it can't be too bad. Any feedback on them, because it would probably be easier just to buy a Walbro...

Cool, I'll probably just go with the Walbro then. I'm guessing you had to do the fuel pump rewire? Who has the best price for the Walbro? Thanks for all your help guys.

if the stang fixes an idle problem, it's either from voltage or wiring control of the pump (similar to turbo II ecu controling voltage at idle) or a bigger FPR. neither would help you if you stuck it in yours. the pump alone wouldn't do anything itself

Cool, thanks for the info. I would need to rewire the Walbro for constant voltage right?
