I have a question... Ive worked on enough of these cars, yet I havent driven one yet. Im 6' 4'' and all of my buddys tell me theres no way I'll fit. Is there any way to put in a racing seat lower to the floor and farther back, or is that floorboard an issue? Im a die hard RX7 fan and I want to be able to drive one without having my shins blown off. Any help is seriously appreciated.

I'm 6'4", 175 lbs., I fit just fine. Since the steering wheel in my car is not adjustable, it's hard to get the right position. Either my legs are comfortable and my shoulders are too far back, or my arms can reach correctly and my thighs almost touch the wheel. Either way though, I fit fine.

This goes for my '86 with sunroof, and the '90 convertible. I've also driven a sunroofless FD, which has even more headroom.

So basically, I need the one with the tilt wheel and no sunroof? Thats good. Im just wondering if racing seats will help at all, cause they sit lower. Thanks for the hope!

No sunroof should be fine. The only reason I have the shoulder/leg distance issue is because the seat has to be leaned back a lot for my head to not rub the lowered ceiling.

Plus less weight, that sunroof assembly is heavy!

I'd also like to know how racing seats change the position (if at all).

Ive noticed that racing seats sit lower, so I figured it would be easier to drive sitting straight up.

the corbeau racing seats that i bought sit higher so i had to cut out some of the foam to sit at the proper height. It was impossible to sit in my car with a helmet on until i cut out some foam. So that is always an option for you if your seat is too high.

i got a fat buddy with an rx7 he had to get racing seats to fit... the only way he fit tho was to not use tracks and bolt them directly to the floof in the position that fit him the best... the seats were lower becuase they had no sliding tracks, only drawback is you cant adjust them so get it right the first time when mounting them
