symptom: you turn the key and all you get is a click, if you cycle the key in will eventually crank

causes: its pretty simple , it consists of 2 subsystems. one is the battery, cables and starter, the other is the igniton switch, clutch cut switch, and the wire to the starter solenoid.

how it works: when you turn the key, it sends 12v thru the ignition switch, to the clutch cut switch, and then to the starter solenoid. the starter solenoid engergizes and takes 12v from the battery cables and spins the motor.

starter solenoid: this is the round thing that is mounted on the starter, it seems to need a full 12v to work, it is generally not available seperatly. if it fails you will get the click click, or nothing at all.

ignition switch: it is actuated by the tip of the key, it can be broken, or loose (its held in with 1 screw), or the contacts can be dirty/corroded. it is available seperatly from the actual ignition lock

clutch cut switch: this is the switch that we have that makes you push the clutch in before you start the car,

the car is not designed for this switch, north america is the only place to get it. this switch also gets dirty/corroded over time. when you have both switches old and corroded the voltage can drop low enough to make the solenoid not work. bypassing this switch will a) return the car to the orignial design and b) fix the problem

this problem can also be caused by a weak battery, loose/bad battery cables, or a bad starter motor
