Im gonna go balls out and ask something very stupid...........just coz a lot of new visitors dont know what terms stand for

what is FC and FD

what a NA -----------i know they are 2nd and 3rd gens and engine type but wht exctly are they?

Volodkovich 08-25-2002 03:23 AM

FC = 2nd gen

FD = 3rd gen

NA = naturally aspirated = no forced induction (turbo/supercharger)

RoTaRyMaDnEss 08-25-2002 03:26 AM

Thank you----

but what does the letters F and C stand for--and F and D?

They're just the engine code. i.e. Honda's with the D16/B16A/B16B/B16C etc.

The letter's don't mean anything other than that

arent they chassis codes not engine codes? engine codes would be 12A, 13B, 13BT, etc, right?

nobody wants to respond?

rotarychainsaw 08-27-2002 03:33 PM

mr. turbo II is right. the engine code usually isn't in the VIN number.https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

since nobody has come out and plainly said it, I will FC is the beginning of the VIN on a 2nd gen RX7, FD is the beginning of the VIN on a 3rd gen RX7, it is just another way of identifying them to other people who have a clue what you are talking about (I like to use that as my test, I say FC, if they look confused, I know not to trust much of what they say about the car)

phinsup 08-28-2002 04:41 PM

Also just to clarify NA is not just 2nd and 3rd Gen RX-7's it includes, but not limited to 1st gen RX-7's and any combustion engine that has no forced induction.

SoniX 08-28-2002 09:06 PM

Phins: NA doesn't apply at all to 3rd gens, they only offered twin turbo for 93+ :P
