Well, my light switch went off last week and caused my dashlighs, tailights and side markers not to work anymore, I tried resoldering the switch but wasnt succesful, by checking the diagrams, you can tap into 2 wires and install a 12v switch.

1. Remove dash

2. Unplug the 4 connectors (2 on each side)

3. On the light switch connector, locate the White/Green and Blue/Red wires, and tap into them, install a switch in an appropriate location. Mine is install under my radio along with my fuel pump switch.

4.Re-plug the connectors

5. Put dash back in place

I had the same thing happen befor .

I chanced my licence plate cover to a plain plastic one that no longer usedthe illum. lights above the plate.

I left the wires that powered those lights just dangling behind the lic. plate

Every now and then I'd blow the fuse-replace it and be fine for 2 min. to 2 days and then blow the fuse again.

The two wires hanging behind the licence plate were shorting out across the back of the plate!!!

Does this help??

hey winger, what kind of switch did you use? I dont really want to shell out around $300 for a replacement switch and wiring harness that will probably have the same problem again.

i used a regular switch from an electronic store.....be sure it can handle 12v...mine handles 120v.......any inline switch works great.....choose one that will fit nicely in the location you will put it.....

UPDATE: i just realized the dimmer still works with my switch....

that same thing happened to me, turns out the replacement switch i got was burned out too. There is a way to wire in a relay to keep this from happening again.
