Alright one more. Here is a pic of what the 5th and 6th port sleeves look like. I put some pineapple inserts in mine and that made a nice difference. You can also check the ports by spraying some condensed air into the 5th and 6th port hose. You dont need very much psi to do it, I think even one of those cans of compressed air would work.

Nice. What did you use to secure the inserts, loctite?

I used red loctite for mine...did you notice any sound difference? when mine kick in, I here a higher pitched rev sound on top of the normal engine sound...I like it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Thanks, I didn't get there yet... I'm pretty much following suit on what you did and removing more emissions stuff. I have the UIM runners ported a bit with a die grinder, the TB done and I didnt get to the LIM yet. Can't wait to drive the car again...

Baldy 03-05-2003 01:10 PM

yeah, I didn't feel comfortable removing the emissions stuff, just cleaned everything up and replaced hoses

how did you port the intake runners? I couldn't even get anything but a pipe cleaner up there, around those curves

Same here, red loctite. I think that is what Pineapple recommends. I don't know if the sound changed on mine. I really can't hear anything over my exhaust, lol. Before I put the sleeves back in I coated the outside with some marvel mystery oil since there was already some gunky buildup on the sleeve holes. I figured it would help them turn better.

i just took mine out.

no sleeves.

everybody said i would lose low end power but i didnt notice at all.

The ports should open with about 3 psi, at around 3500 - 4000 rpm.

Actually my friend took it to his job and did it on some die grinder (I've never seen this thing). I saw what he did on his turbo and manifolds and I couldnt believe how smooth it got them so I figured what the hell. It was a minor port job, more polished smooth than anything, not too much metal removed. He was only able to go down to the bends on the runners where it meets the dynamic chamber and the LIM but I figure if he matches the LIM and with what I did to the TB, it should help. I polished and removed some metal from the inside of the TB too with a rotary tool. I think Pengaru has a pic of his where he did similar.

i really wouldnt spend time porting the TB if arent displacing a large amount of air vs the stock motor. Pengaru has a nice porting setup in his motor and that is why he did it. Uprated turbo motors will benefit from it much more than a NA motor..

just my shithead advice..
