From what i gathered during searching is bascially, to put a 3 rotor together using 13b housing, i would need the eccentric shaft,and the intermediate housing that has the staionary gears. Along with longer bolts and what not. I just got off the phone with SRMotorsports cause they have 20b irons forsale, and they advised that it wouldn't work, cause the 13b doesn't have the holes drilled in them to mate them, and it would be better to buy a used engine cause there's a;lot of parts need. I have a 20b eccentric shaft,thought all i need is the UIM,LIM and intermediate iron with the stationary gear.

you need to go buy a 20b. its not worth trying to make a 13b 3 rotor.

In addition you also need the front sidehousing and both sets of tension bolts. The 20B has tension bolts going in from both ends, so a 13B front sidehousing will not work.



The 13B-and-a-half engines are not related to the 20B in any way other than displacement. They use a different eccentric shaft than a 20B, since they use a standard center sidehousing modified for a stationary gear and bearing, making the whole engine shorter than a 20B. They also use extralong tension bolts instead of the 20B method, intake and exhaust manifolding is custom, oil pan is custom, engine mounting is "as circumstances dictate", and so on.



Unless you have a machine shop at your disposal and enjoy doing custom work as a hobby, it only makes sense to just buy a 20B while they are still available. Save all of the fiddly custom stuff for when it's the only viable option for having a 3 rotor.

Thant what i was wondering, I've two blown FD motors, and a 3 rotor eccentric shaft. I know i need the thick intermediate plate, with the gears in it. From research the 20B exhaust housing are smaller, the 13B housing would be better, want to streetport the engine, might be able to reuse some of my housing?Instead of buying a 20B and take a chance of not knowing what your getting and having to rebuild it anyways. I read that if you use the FD rear plate, you can use the stock mounts. And use the Front plate of the FD and will help with hood clearances.I was wondering what Srmortorsports was talking about that the plates mounting holes won't work, So is it just the front plate of the FD that needs modified or is it better just use the front of the cosmo? There's a place that sells 20b UIM and LIM,not a problem to get,then get a Custom oil pan and cut some of the UIM to help the hood clear. What else am i missing, to get this engine together and mounted, all the fuel and engine stuff i don't need off the 20B. Why do i need to by a 20B cosmo. If i got a eccentric shaft, i just need the intermediate plate, and UIM and LIM. Evrything else can be FD and aftermarket or custom right?

The last time I saw a front-center sidehousing for sale, it was running about $2500NZ. They are no longer available new. Your only option is used, and nobody's selling (or if they are, bring a suitcase of cash)



You still need the front sidehousing. Assuming that the FD's front sidehousing could be modified, it's still hours of expensive time in the Bridgeport, in addition to figuring.



Don't forget the tension bolts. You'll need both sets.



$4k for a complete 20B is looking better and better, yes? Even if it IS only just so you have all of the pieces in one place.

Not such a bad price in us dollars. If your gona go turbo i would definatly just suss a 20b from an engine importer. A wreckers down the road from me was selling a whole 20b JC cosmo half cut for $5000 nz dollars.
