the least expensive way to go is to spend 3-4k on a jdm engine, and putting in, planning on rebuilding it somewhere along the line.

you will most likely pay 4000-6000 depending on what series engine it is. The later models are stronger than earlier models.

Plan on having it rebuilt BEFORE you install, this can be quite pricey.

Plan on 10k to spend JUST on the engine.

*search the good guy/bad guy areas on both rx7 forums before buying.

oh and dont forget the fact that parts for these engines are hard to come buy, and quite expensive when they can be found...something to keep in mind

"anyone have one laying around? "

these are NOT exactly engines you can find in a junkyard (unless you live in Japan, lol) or people just have collecting dust in their garages. if someone has one for sale (abandoned project?_)you will most likely still not be paying much less than 4k

I saw a 20B on ebay not that long ago......the auction may still be going.... I would plan on a rebuild though prior to installing it into a car (like RotaryVillain said).

here ya go $4500 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-20B-3-R...sspagenameZWDVW

they dont say what series it is so you'd have to ask them.

(i think its normally stamped on the rear iron)

ive never bought one personally before but did some serious research into what $ it would take to properly put a 20b sing turbo into my fd and promptly decided that i dont have the cash at the moment to do it the way id like to so ill wait

but i Do know that the eccentric shaft and rear iron on the later 20bs are stronger than the earlier ones and i have seen the rear iron ALONE from a D series 20b engine sell on ebay for close to 2000 JUST for the REAR IRON
