Can anyone tell me around how much it would cost for a 20b? It'd be a big help, thanks.

Super_Dude 02-12-2004 02:30 PM

Need more info

just the engine?

Are you talking 20b+install?

is it on a FC,FD, or whatever

Manarino 02-12-2004 02:48 PM

Just the engine and It'd be going into a FC.

Sorry for not having that all up before, I'm kinda new to this and don't know a whole hell of a lot.

Super_Dude 02-12-2004 02:55 PM

Just for the engine is like 3-4k and instalation will be alot to

total about 10,000$

Manarino 02-12-2004 02:58 PM

Alright, thanks.

Rotarian 1126 03-07-2004 02:34 PM

How about installation in an FD??

Jeff20B 03-07-2004 08:25 PM

More expensive.

j9fd3s 03-08-2004 11:23 AM

the 20b --> fc mounts are $250

the 20b --> fd subframe is $2000+

johnisenglish 03-08-2004 03:20 PM

With my FD I'm at just under $10,000 right now, and the engine isn't even in the car...

If you count all the extras - saftey equipment, roll cage, tools I didn't already have, sensors, that easily adds another $2,000

I'm just shooting to finish at under $15,000 total cost, counting dyno time, suspension tuning, etc.

But the way I see it, $15k on a car could buy a new Civic, or put a 20B in my FD... not a hard decision.

Then again, $15k is 23,076.9 Candy bars...

Rotarian 1126 03-08-2004 04:50 PM

^ That's something a glutton would say. Ha jk, but damn I didn't realize the price difference between the FD and the FC was so big!!

johnisenglish 03-08-2004 06:17 PM

Well, with either car if you do it right its going to be extremely expensive. However, none of these are set costs, as if I REALLY wanted to, I could have made my own subframe, which would have only cost as much as the materials (say $300, though likely a lot less), use the stock ECU, ignition, fuel system, cooling system, etc, and probably had the car running for well under $5,000. However, it would be more work, less powerful and most importantly less reliable in the end.

To get a 20b ported with the twin turbo setup (I believe) w/ subframe and spindles from RX-7 Specialties, it would be $8700. Not a bad price!!! This also includes 3mm apex seal upgrade and whatever else they usually do when doing all that "good stuff" to make an engine better and like brand new...I'm talking about like race/high hp prepping. I'm going this way when I'm ready to swap. Just got a new 13b though, so it's going to be a while. Their site is down right now for some reason, but at 12-13 p.s.i. with just those basic remanufacturing mods, it is pushing 550 hp!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif Great deal I think,

Craig

BTW When the site is up and running: RX-7 Specialites

$8,700 scares me...

Jeff20B 03-19-2004 02:02 AM

It ought to be 10k at least.

sidewinderx7 03-19-2004 03:29 AM

yeah but see, what if you have all of that ... then you want to go 20b. Then its just the cost of the engine and the mounts.

Jeff20B 03-19-2004 03:56 AM

You're right.

Hey, do you think you'd break even if you were to replace the heaviest 13B ever made (REPU options like 9 bolt flywheel etc) with a stripped down 20B? Weight-wise, not money-wise lol. Pennywise? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png

sidewinderx7 03-19-2004 05:09 AM

I'd like to do a 20b in a few years, when this new engine goes. By then I should have everything i need to just drop in the 20b.

But thats wayyy down the road https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
