Well, the seed has been implanted into my head, and im dead set on throwing a 20b Into my 87 TII. For now, I am planning on going with the stock twins, and running a stock ECU.



My question is this, what will I need besides the longblock, and stock ECU with a harness? So far, I know I will need a radiator, and obviously different mounts, but what else? I already have an FMIC so thats covered, although I know I will need to get some new IC piping made up.



Also I want to hear about any fitment issues, or wiring issues that have slowed someone else down in the past. I know im doing a "budget" 20b swap here, But I want to do it right, and cover all my bases before I go crazy and start ordering parts.



Plans for the car will be a Big single with a Stand alone in the future, but for the time being I just want to get the engine in the car and running/driving correctly before I start doing any modding...

Isn't the stock ECU set to run on an automatic?

One of the things I am unsure of, hence the thread! lol. Can you run the stock ECU with a TII tranny?



I have a Haltech E6k on the car now, but from what ive heard the E6k isnt compatible with a 20b, so I will have to change that anyhow. I more than likely will end up with a Standalone, but was hoping the stock ECU would be ok for a "temporary" type thing...

After doing some more research tonight, ive noticed on ReTed's site (fc3spro.com) that a Haltech E6k Can be used if I get dual tower coils and trick the Haltech into thinking that it is a 6cyl engine. Does anyone have any more detail on doing this? Since I already have that ECU In my car it will make things 10X easier for me to do this if I can make it work properly.

the stock ecu is a bear to hook up if you dont have ALL the wiring. you need the engine harness, and the dash harness, at least from the cosmo, plus ALL of the sensors, solenoids, and vacuum/pressure tanks. then you get so/so performance from the teeny stock turbos

Well after I found out that my E6k will work with the 20B I am definatly going to utilize it, so it will be on a standalone and obviously be running non-sequential.



Are there any fitment issues at all besides the Radiator and Mounts? I heard something about the front sway bar possibly getting in the way? Also, what is the deal with the waterpump/pullys? Would it be best to pull the front cover off of my 13b and just swap it? Or is just a waterpump change sufficient?? I know im being slightly tedious (and probly annoying) asking all these questions, but I want to know exactly what im getting into before I do it. I also would like to have ALL the parts here before I dismantle my perfectly running car...lol

thats pretty much it.



front sway bar doesnt clear the oil pan.



id also use the fc water pump/pullies/etc just cause its not some crazy expensive jdm oddball stuff.



the oil lines are easy, rear one needs to be longer, front either needs to be shorter, or do a big loop.



radiator needs to move more forward, or more vertical, or both
