I know on ebay I saw an entire Cosmo 20B for 3K, with trans and ECU wireing harness and such... my qustion what will it fit in. My guess is it'll fit in a FD, will it Fit in a FC? and it comes with an automatic transmission. What trans would work with it? An FD trans? would a 6 speed be ideal?
I'm various courious about this engine. Appreciated. |
a TII tranny will bolt up to the motor and probably the best bet. Itll fit inside a fc and fd. The fd requires more work for the swap though.

I agree. A 4 speed ribcase tranny from '74 would work. The only problem I've found with trying to use a '76 5 speed is the slave cylinder is in the way of the JC Cosmo extra threaded tranny mount hole on the top of the rear plate. I had to grind mine down https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png but it turned out ok-looking with the slave cylinder in place.
Yes, the older trannies had slave cylinder mounts that made the front of the cylinder hang over the engine by like an inch or so. Any '79 or later tranny will fit better because they moved the slave rearward enough so there's no overhang. But if you're going to use a '79 or later tranny, stay away from the smoothcases (they break super-easy, well, the '79-'80 ones do). |
