I thought id share my new project.
Bought this car as a roller. In the action pics it had a 750+hp sb2.2 and pantera zf transaxle. Will be installing Jeff Kiesels 20bpp that was in his bugeye sprite, along with a hewland dg300 transaxle. Hi, was glad to catch your posting. So I've got a dangerous combination: An open mind, desire to be different, and money. I'm currently working in Iraq working a very good paying job as an MRAP mechanic. I'm new to the rotary family, but after reading about them, I'm pretty much sold.
First I wanted a Chevy V8 Porsche 914, then I thought of a Lexus V8 (I used to be a Lexus mechanic) which Kennedy Engineering does have an adapter and flywheelf for. Then I started reading about the rotary engine. And didn't stop from there. Then I saw the 20b twin turbo for sale on ebay. I have no intention of building a race car of this thing, though if I have to add some bracing/tubing I can. A couple of questions. Is the bellhousing the same bolt pattern as the old 13b's, so I can use Kennedy Engineerings adapter? What ignition control are you using? Kennedy eng. mentions using an auto trans, does the same apply to the 20b? What starter should I use? Any other info would be great..thanks |

As far as the EMS, its a electromotive tec2, old school, but fine for a n/a engine. Starter would be aircooled VW. The trans is a complex question. The cost is high, if you do it right. You need at minimum a porsche 915 trans (2k) with all mods (shifter setup, ect), but this will bring the cost of the trans into the hewland range (5k+) And if you go with a g50 porsche trans with upgrades u are square in hewland territory. Do you want a race trans or street trans? |
holy hell, that is going to be a very nice car.. keep the pics and updates coming. its very interesting.
