20B in a miata would be craaaazy. Say goodbye to your tranny, driveshaft, and rear end https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
There is someone with a supercharged one around my neck of the woods, and I was privileged enough to ride in it. Thing was seriously SICK!!! And last I heard it was for sale. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png |
A friend of mine is putting a 13B in a miata. Hes in the middle of the engine build right now. Lets just say its going to be an 11k rpm monster...
|
a rew motor in a miata with a conservative t04 turbo would be absolutley **** your pants crazy.
a 20b would be like putting a v8 on a go cart, not my style but with enought money.... |
yes the 20b miata is possible. I also heard of a 20b miata but i thought it was in australia (kind of a rumor in my eyes). It doesnt matter really if it has been done before. IM DOING IT!!!! in the shop now!
i have the 1990 miata ford rear axle 8.8 373gear turbo2 tranny (it will be destory and i have the next tranny worked out already) ACT clutch ACT prolite flywheel (counterweight from the auto tranny...i know i know https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR ) gt42 (the 53 trim....1.15a/r) microtech lt12s (on order) 780cc primaries 1600cc 2nd 46mm tial tial bov dakota digital gauge (ready to order when needed for speedo issue due to the ford rear and 20b/v6 style tach configuration) boostcontroller (so i can stay low boost on street and not twist the car like a stick of gum in its wrapper) unorthodox racing rollcage (certif. to 8.5sec 1/4 and easy to upgrade) IN THE WORKS FMIC by JBE racing and RAD custom spec. manifoldsand mounts by JBE racing this is going to happen in the near future so be on the look out for pics |
thats gonna be scary!

Wasn't there some rumor of the new miata being a rotary? I want a Miata with either an SR20DE or a 13b. Those cars don't get enough respect.
|
There was a 20b Miata at the SCCA SOLO Nationals in Kansas. I remember seeing video of it somewhere.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif
|
There is a miata w/ a 20B running around Oklahoma City. I would think you would need to strengthen the fame if you are going to use the full potiential of the 20B IMO.
|
I agree, it would be cool...but why not just turbocharge the miata 1.8? there's plenty of guys making monster power with that engine. SCC had a dude a couple of years ago with a miata making over 400 rwhp running 10's. And if I remember correctly, it was all bolt on stuff.
Maybe I should put a 1.8 bp engine in my TII. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |
cool! i like when peoples do something w/o any exemple...
https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png we want to see some pic nyce project! i'm actually completing the mechanical part of my first gen 20B... i'm not fixed on witch ECU to use! i think the E11v2 will be the best...?? :( ( no knock sensor input... is it very bad? ) |

ok, i had turbocharged the 1.6. I had a link ecu and 550cc injectors. Ripped the 1990 motor out and put a fresh 93 motor in. I was pushing 18psi ....from time to time (street tuned). I estimated the power was about 270rwhp....this was not an issue for the rear considering the 8.8 ford rear and driveshaftshop axles i had put in sometime earlier (about a year before the second motor was installed). Anyway.... i snapped the crank one day pushing about 12psi. I must say it was a funny sound, like a shoe box half full of nails being shook. Yes a 1.8 T would be easy... and 325rwhp could be made. Easy. a 13b-t would be great but it's been done or overdone..... Mazda should have put a 13b in a miata and people are just righting a wrong done by mazda. A 20b setup ... I would be one of ten??? excluding the tube frame 20b miata's (billet supercars..AU) The budget increase on the 20b project vs a 13b one is about 1500.oo more ,NOT BAD AT ALL. I plan to get 700hp out of the 20b... respectable for a 20b setup but that is only a dyno... until the funcar spec nhra rollcage is installed |
one of my friends has a s4 miata carbureted and he couldnt fit his turbo into the engine bay so he supercharged it, and talking to him today he detonated his apex seals to pieces in his rear housing soooo, back to the drawing board https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

There is room for a v8.
A 20b is about 26 inches long and a ford 302 is 29 inches long. Which brings me to this video. http://videos.streetfire.net/search/miata/...89714cdd005.htm |
It has been done countless times. Bullet racing "in AUS" sells the cars pre built with them or can do them for you. Most prefer a custom tube front.
I chose the 13b because well the damn car dont need more. The turbo is very hard to fit. |
I guess it has been but there is limited information on it when I do searches.
I thought I might get some input on it so I wont have to do so much searching. I thought I might get some websites that I may read up on or look at some pics maybe even some video.Thats all thats why I posted ,to make it easier for me to find things, some searches are tedious and dont offer much info. I just wanted to see more Miata + rotary stuff. Thanks for your input. |
It is an undocumented swap. More or less it is know the right people and come baring the chedda.
