Hi.
Want to put an 20 b engine in my fc chassi. But have been warned about the 100 lbs exsra weight in front of the car. How does that affect the handeling? In a straight line it probobly handels well, but how does it handle going true turns ,breaking etc etc. Can somone with this engine in a fc chassi give me some advise. I have the 2 rotor cosmo engine in it now, but want some more ........ But if the exstra weight ruins the handeling, its not interesting.... |
I've not noticed any problems. I have a jic fltII suspension on it though. If you want to do it I highly recommend a better suspension. Mine drives great though.

its the removal of the front swaybar that changes the handling.

The swaps at least $10k. If you don't have this kinda money, don't even bother. You should have at least TWICE that to finish it. -Ted |
Well, it will cost atleast 10k.. Thats no problem, the problem would be, if I put 10k in to it, and it handels like ****. THAT would be kind of crappy.
Is it possible to compare, lets say an fc chassi with an 400 hp 13b-re engine to an fc chassi with an 400hp 20b engine, and who would be the best car, ? I guess the 20 b fc would go faster in a straight line, but the 13b-re engine would handle better, I think , so probobly would go faster if the road had some turns etc. What do you guy´s think.. ? Am I totaly wrong here... Or what ..? |
If you can feel the difference, change to stiffer springs up front.
We offer a custom front bar than can handle almost any set-up you can throw at it. Initial performance with a 1-1/8" front bar is fine for our 20B NA that makes 232hp at the wheels. We offer a 1-1/4" bar that should take stock twins or any big single turbo conversions you can throw at it. -Ted |

Heck, some V8 FC guys say the FC still handles great with such a beast of a motor. 400HP 13B is not easily obtainable, but 400HP 20B is. |

-Ted
yes, mine handles so much better with the front bar on there. it was ok without, but it just didnt feel like an fc |

400 hp is not that hard in a 13B. I am sure there are a few guys on here who could prove it. I think the 20B is over played unless someone is looking for 600hp, and that is not very streetable. You need to figure out how you want to use your car. I am helping out w/ a 20B install into my old 89vert. It has a very aggressive street port and exhaust port. It will run N/A with a 150 shot of NOS. I have seen some time slips and pictures of the car to prove low 9's are possible on a 13b w/out turbos. Granted it was an old corrolla and it had a dual stage NOS set up but that is still impressive. It is also in Puerto Rico and those guys are nuts. Just my .02 on the 20B issue.

what will those ricans do next???
|
Personally, i'm doing the 20B and plan to make just a hair more HP than i was making out of the 13B bridgeport turbo that i was running. But i can make it at a really low boost and a whole lot less stress on the engine..... the 13B can make a TON of HP... they just don't stay together as long.
|
yeah, i don't really have anything done to my engine except some minor porting, but with all the supporting mods and a single turbo, i'm making over 400rwhp on the 13b
I think the space program is next! Yea, rotary power propulsion, launching from SALINAS SPEEDWAY (PUERTO RICO ). https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683827.gif |
