https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif I'm so confused no one around here can tell me why my rx7 loses it's power it's a '79 with a '86 13b, with full racing beat exhaust and mikuni carb. when it's warmed up it will cut out about 6,000 rpm but if you let the car set for about 10-15 minutes then start it while it's still in it's operating temp. it runs great. any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

is that a stock mikuni carb? my guess would be fuel starvation, but i havent experienced that first hand.
|
no it's not stock,(i believe it's a ph44 or something like that) the engine is an out of an '86 SE that's originally fuel injected. the problem is not the fuel pressure i already tested that, it's regulated down to about 5 lbs. it runs great if it sits though.... please try to help my find the root of this annoying problem

Just wondering if you have a manual choke hooked up. I was just thinking maybe the choke was getting stuck which might comprimise it at first. You might want to post this in the 2nd gen section as well since you have a series 4 13B engine. Good Luck!

Stock carbs are Nikki...
It dont matter is he posted this in the 2nd gen section ..Hes got it coverted over to carb.. Well my car running a RacingBeat/Holley set up..im running 6 psi now..I think 5 is a little low.BUT this dont seem like its your main cause... Have you checked your floats..or how about tring to adjust your carb again? I give mine some free revs to 7 k ..to see if it studders..if it does..i readjust fuel/air mixture again.. Does the car studder at high RPMs? is this a new engine or high mileage? |
it cuts out at first but if you let it sit for awhile then it's fine, and the engine is a newer one with about 20k on it.

You need to talk to some SCCA racer...theres a couple on this site...they deal alot with Mikunis and Webbers....or just e mail RacingBeat with the problem...I personally dont deal with these carbs..BUT once you fixed the probelm..let us know what you did...share the info
