i assume you are talking about the threaded caliper? if so it's very common, i have a snap on set that has several adapters for various size threaded calipers. I would guess you can rent one at a decent tool rental joint

ive never actually used one, in california they arent hard to turn

Buzzbomb 05-20-2006 12:20 PM

Hmmm, I still got no reply notifications? Thanks. I will try something. I didn't know they turned until I read the haynes manual last night.,,,,BB

j9fd3s 05-20-2006 01:29 PM

i think i use a 14mm wrench and a screwdriver

Buzzbomb 05-20-2006 01:56 PM

I guess I don't get the full scope. What're each of those for? Do you have to loosen something before you screw the piston in?,,,,BB

Haynes manual says just turn the piston?? If you mean a 14mm to remove the caliper from the bracket, I've already gotten that far?

What calipers are they from?I never had a set of threaded calipers on any of my 7's

Buzzbomb 05-20-2006 02:09 PM

1982, 4 wheel discs. Talking about the rears? Sorry I should've mentioned that beforehand.,,,,BB

14mm fits in the caliper piston notches and then you put the screwdriver in the wrench and turn, in CA this works, but your car's all rusty, so it might not

Got it done. Used a pegged wrench from a Makita grinder arbor. Fit right in it and spun it easily. BTW? Keep

your opinions on amount of rust to yourself, if you haven't seen the car. The only rust on the car is in

my other post, and is the fault of a poorly designed battery tray. Or was it meant as a joke? I couldn't tell.,,,,BB

LOL, damn California snobs.... Why pick on a Texas car when there's one from Michigan around, eh? Now we've got rust! Fortunately none of it has found its way onto my car yet though... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

For turning in the piston, I like that idea of the arbor tool (which I just happen to have). Thanks for the tip! I've always used a pair of needle-nosed pliers to screw them in, but it tends to ruin the pliers.

Just noticed at Sears the other day. Lisle makes a six sided caliper tool. Looks like a gold cad box with pegs on all side.,,,,BB

i use a wrench and a screw driver and just turn it.
