I have a 12a with a holly 650 and I want to put a hi-po ign in I am thinking
about a MSD 6a, I'm just wondering what kind of good or bad experiences... some of you have had with this ignition or some other brands for that matter.... -C- |
listen i really cant recall, but i think you would have to put like a couple of msd's on a rotary because of the ignition, but i could be wrong.

I want to do that direct fire setup but not too sure on how to run the wiring on it.I have the extra ignitor and lots of wiring lying around here.Just need another coil.

j9fd3s have you tried this DLIDFIS ignition setup on your ride? It sounds very promising and it sounds fairly simple to do.

Can i take the ignition system from a 2nd gen and put it on my '83?
|
Could someone post a "BEFORE" wiring diagram, so that I know exactly which wires to put where on the AFTER? It would make it mucho simpler.

Now I'm usually really good at wiring things up... nut could someone translate that into english pleasee....
Or better yet if someone here does that take before, during and after pics so I can have a better idea... or someone at least tell me which the name brand and model of parts used... -C- |
ok the simple version: parts: you need another ignitior and coil and some wire. remove stock leading ignitor, it has a 2 pin connector to the pickup in the dizzy. wire it so that the ignitor you just took off and your extra one both get that same signal. wire one coil to each ignnitor, each coil to each leading plug. boom done

I know people who have it on thier cars and say it is night and day difference.I want to hook mine up so I can get rid of the loud ass cannon blast everytime I shut the car off when its warm.Having no cats has disadvantages like that but when you upgrade to direct fire all those problems get fixed. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I looked at my harness when I was measuring my oil output
and didn't see anything that looked like an ignitor. It went from the distributer to a large harness and from the coils to the harness....??? where is the ignitor located?? |
the ignitor is a little black box on the dizzy

So what your saying is if you just go to a wrecker and buy another harness and run the power off the ignition to it then run your plug wires to your leading plugs you should be set?
