Just hooked up my oil temp gauge yesterday in my GSL-SE. I got the Auto Meter gauge that goes from 140-300 degrees F. The oil temp did not go above 140 ever. Mind you this was highway driving in fairly cool weather. I think I'm going to have to get the other range gauge, from 100-240 degrees. Anyone else have a gauge on their car?

oil temp should be around 180 or so i understand.

I have the smaller range (100-240), today on the freeway home it was about 65-70 speed was about 60mph and I was seeing 150. On cold days were the temp is around freezing the gauge will barely regester 100. I hope this helps diminish your worries.

Ok that sounds about right. Guess I'll get the smaller range gauge then.

couple of questions if i may. what size gauges are those and what did u use for the panel where theyre mounted on? it looks really nice.

Those are 2-1/16" gauges. For the panel, I built up a wooden panel that fits exactly into the radio mounting holes. It doesn't look quite so good from close up actually, as I didn't get the surface perfectly smooth, nor does the paint exactly match. But I figured, not bad for the first try. If I built another one (as I mostly likely will because I'm REALLY tempted to put another gauge in there) I'd fasten the mounting brackets into place first, THEN glue the panel on, instead of taking measurements off the radio and building the whole thing first, and making it fit later. I think I have a pic, lemme see . . .

yeah here's a fuzzy pic of the back of the panel . . .

cool. looks good. thanks.

i order a nice aluminum piece made to fit 3 of those gauges that would also accomodate a radio on top...im guessing it would have looked nice. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif
