hello

i was thinking about buying a 85 rx-7 off my uncle. it has 190km on it and is in good shape, winter stored. i can buy it for practicaly nothing and was wondering if i do buy it, will it last me beacuse i am planing on putting alot on kilometers on it. i also want to make it faster but im not sure what i can do to make it any faster.

i was also wondering how long the rotary engines last and how much they would cost to replace once it goes.

Hey c6ix, the life span of rotors really only counts on two things. How well it's been maintained and how it's been driven.Of course, regular servicing helps any car but of course rotors can be a lot more demanding on all components.

And of course how it's been driven. A good hard drive every now and then does them wonders[ well that's my excuse for a fang and I'm sticking to it!] but constant high RPM and speeds will shorten their lifespan.But they are funny things.For example, my '69 R100 still has it's original 10A and it's still running![A bit smokey now though]

Unfortunately though, your engine in that Rx-7 will be getting towards the end of it's life. If you are after some extra Hp and you get the car for a bargain price, it might be an idea to get an engine now. Least them you can have something relible from the start.In my neck of the woods, it's not too expensive to overhaul them, but is usually easier to check at the importers for a engine/box combo.Check all your options and go from there. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
