Thumbs up

Of late I've been totally emphatuated with the rotary, and have been looking for a decent 7 ever since. I finally found one, and I wanted to see what some people thought was a decent price for it.

1983 Rx7 gs

manual trans

108,XXX miles

totally stock save for alloy wheels an better tires

Beautiful inside and out (I couldn't believe it when I saw the interior, it's as clean as a new car, very small amount of seat and steering wheel wear)

Clutch replaced 60k ago by current owner

Original paint - still glossy

Few small scratches, no rust

Air conditioning

Hatch actually works

I've not yet had the privilage of driving this beaut, but when the owner pulled it out of her garage it started right up with a smooth idle that eventually came down to about 800rpm. It did seem to have some trouble getting into reverse; owner said someting about no synchros for reverse... or is this something to be worried about?

I really want this car, what kind of cash should I be shelling out for it?

My reverse always made a griding noise, I think it's standard...it may be that it doesn't have synchros. I'm sure someone else can confirm though...

To give you an idea about price...I got mine for $1400:

85' GS

Manual Trans.

78K miles

Rebuilt Mazda carb w/ mech secondaries

Dents on the passenger side front quarter panel

Erebuni OEM body kit

Bluebook (for my zipcode) says $1275.00. Get a quote

and my reverse grinds sometimes too...kinda clunks into gear and sometimes you have to baby it in. It's been that way through three different trannies so I think it's probably just the way it is.

Mine also grinds, I found by pulling the shifter physically upwards when shifting into reverse it sometimes helps, I was told to try this by a friend and was at first ultra skeptical, but it worked to a decent extent.

Thanks for the replies everybody.

I've checked the price quote sites (kbb, edmunds, nada, etc.) before and have gotten ~$1500, but I wanted to see what other fb lovers would pay for a car of this stature. But the problem with those numbers is they're less than half of what this person is asking. Which is funny because the only cars I've seen go for that much are Gsl-se's in good condition.

Oh yeah, remembered some more stuff about the car. Like I said before it's got some alloy wheels + 2 extra of that same design. She also has the stock wheels with snow tires on them. The louvre (sp?) is also there, but not on the car. It has a color matched (very small) spoiler put on it.

Eh, that's all I can remember for now. Thanks again for the thoughts on it!

reverse has no synchro, if the grinding bugs you put it in 1st and then reverse

If that is original miles that you have quoted, and it is a 12a in there, that is a REALLY good price. That engine SHOULD last another 100k miles or more.

Good luck man. I payed too much for my FC, and it needs more work than I expected. Or needs work that I really want to do to make it look purdy again.

Yeah, they are asking 3500, not 1500... I don't think I could pay over 2k for a gs fb.
