As the title states....I just spent an hour or two installing a brand new OMP, and lines.

Cranked her up and ran it a while, still NO oil. Isn't this supposed to flow at all times, and

just flow heavier when the carb opens more? The rod is mounted on the highest hole

in the linkage, should I stack some more washers into it to shorten it some more?

Has there ever been a reported case of the drive shaft snapping somewhere between the distributor

and OMP?? I'm stumped here..,,,,BB

This isn't a premix discussion. Please save it if you're going to mention it.

That shaft is pretty "beefy". I doubt that it broke. I have had problems like this before though. What I did was raise the lever while the vehicle was idling to see if the pump was working. It should fill the lines when you do this.

Has the engine been repaired or rebuilt lately? If so did you use any type of RTV or silicone on the front cover? I have seen the front cover oil passages to the OMP clogged by excess silicone. To check this remove the OMP and disconnect the magnetic pickups on the distributor and have someone crank the engine over(do not start the engine) see if oil is coming out of the feed hole. If yes then the problem is the pump.

Oh cool! Actually I was going to try that this morning, before pulling it off again to see if the shaft was indeed turning. So if it does flow once I lift the lever, should it continue to flow once I release it? Priming it, so to speak? Nope, no rebuild yet. It's the original engine with 135k.,,,,BB

That did it!!! Lifted the lever, and that got the oil flowing finally! Once I released it, it kept going. I finally feel like I'm getting somewhere! Thanks a bunch!,,,,BB

I've forgotten the exact specs, but you run the engine at 2,000 RPM for 5 minutes and it puts out xx cc's of oil - something like that. Check a shop manual for exact specs please.

I remember seeing that in the Haynes manual as well. Since it is new, I imagine it's

doing pretty well. I will check it though. Once I get it to idle more than one minute, hehe.,,,,BB
