Gentlemen:

I am new to the forum. Need some help in assessing the value of my 1979 Rx-7. If it has a decent value I may be interested in selling. It is a 1979 limited edition. Show car paint (black). All emblems (front hood, front side quarter panels, back trunk, side limited edition emblems) are new. Original unique (only on the 79 limited edition) mags are in good condition including the spare. The engine is a 13B with 25K replacing the original smaller engine. It has an entire Jacobs ignition, Holley 600 cfm carb, headers. Runs great. Five speed. Seats have had seat covers since early on and are in good stock condition as is the rest of the interior. The orginal sound system (clarion) has been updated with a quality am/fm/cd player with good speakers. This car has never had any bodily contact.

This car has been garaged all its life. It has been driven very little lately as I did not want to put the miles on it. It drives great and is in very good condition. If the car has decent value I have pictures. I need some estimates of its value and how best to market the car if it is worth the effort.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

If its as good as it sounds to be then you have a killer collectable. Why are you looking for a value on it?

If it was all original it would be worth more than if it was modded.

I do not know a whole lot about the Limited Edition '79 RX-7. You took out the stock 12A and dropped in a 13B. That alone will hurt its value although arguably the 13B has more power. The 12A was intended to be in it.

I have a book at home about the different models I'll take a look at it over the Holiday and see what it says.

Gentlemen:

I appreciate your quick response. The original engine was replaced before I realized the value of retaining it in the car. However, the car is in very good condition and it just sits in the garage. I have built a Shelby Cobra and am in the process of building another. The funds from the Rx will help me continue my build.

I will get photo taken this weekend for posting. Again, I do not have to sell this car. Only if I can get a decent amount.

Thanks again for your help.

Gentlemen:

Attached are the photos of my 79 RX7 LTD Edition. I hope these photos will help in the assessment of the car's value. Again, I'm looking forward to your opinion on its value and where best to market for the sale.

EDIT: I shrank your picture down. It is only half cos it didn't upload properly in the first place--too big. I used the MS Imaging program(comes with windows) to resize it.

I'd love to build a shelby cobra, thats a long term plan for a future project. What engine did you put in it? Would it be possible to put a 20B rotary in one? (My no longer secret plan)

Drifter: I built the first cobra two years ago this Christmas. I put a 350+ horsepower 5.0 in the car. I have just built a 408 stroker to replace the 302. I will then place the 5.0 (302) in my next cobra. I have been out of the loop on rotary engines for so long I can't answer the question. However, with a cobra and some inginuity, anything is possible.

Also, I have taken five pictures with our new digital camera. We tried to place them on the web and the large, 1/2 photo, you see is the result. We need some direction as how to place pictures from our computer file onto this site. Remember you are dealing with a novice in this regard.

Thanks for the help in advance.

ok, what you wanna do is either, reduce the resolution on the camera, so it takes smaller pics. or use an imaging program to resize your pics after you have downloaded them to your pc.

You can only upload one pic at a time in a post, or if you remote link them, (upload them to a website and put a IMG link) you can get about 10 pics per post.
