What type of oil are you running with them and how much per strut.I have the stockers out and the strut and new springs ready to go in the morning.

Thanks

Any motor oil is fine, even used oil. I forget how much (its in the shop manual), some will overflow out the top when you drop the cartridge in (BTW lower it slowly). This insures no air gap between the strut body and cartridge.

Thanks Carl.

fill with oil?! Was I supposed to fill my illuminas with oil before installing them? Sure hope not!

2gslse 07-28-2003 08:40 PM

the oil doesnt actually go in the tokiko inserts themselves just in the strut housing(I think it helps to keep the inserts cooler or something)

j9fd3s 07-28-2003 09:49 PM

its optional, i dont remember if i did it or not

Racer X 07-28-2003 10:26 PM

In my instructions it says to fill the housing with oil before you install them.Acts like a second dampner.

do the seals inside the gland nut off the stocker have to be used with the new ones?I've got it apart right now and don't want to do this twice.

The OEM ones have a seal in them but I think that for the OEM ones only.Have you heard of people using them or should I try without them and see if theres any leaks. Thanks alot mike.

Why could they not make these a direct replacement instead of a insert.Would be way easier to install.Thankfully its a one time deal. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
