I'm getting my motor back within a week or so. I'm confused about this aspect of my project. I've read alot and would like to know what has worked for you guys?

i used an MSD 6AL for many years. to be honest, i never really noticed any difference in performance after installation, but then again i didn't do any major power upgrades over my setup when it was installed (just the basics: full exhaust, modded Nikki)

i am at a point now with my current car and i am planning to try to upgrade my ignition. i am planning to try the DLIDFIS or 2GDFIS. i'd recommend it simply because it's less money up front ...

Once you go DLIDFIS you'll never go back. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

That's been my experience. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I found the old thread you guys did on DLIDFIS. I've been reading up on it. I doubt that i'll waste my tip money on an MSD box

DLIDFIS or 2GDFIS

and these are????????

Jeff20B 01-02-2005 03:51 AM

Well for one thing, they're acronyms. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png I had a hand in coming up with them. I tried to make them as descriptive as possible while not containing too many letters. I figured seven letters or less ought to do it since most of the people who'd be installing it have RX-7s, and most people can remember a seven digit telephone number. Of course nowadays phone numbers have to have a stupid prefix, and you know how that goes.

Oh uh sorry to get side tracked there. Do a search of either acronym and see what comes up. Whichever you decide to go with is up to you and your budget.

By the way, 2GCDFIS is the correct spelling. If you search for the shorter one you posted, it may not come up with anything.

Personally I like the 2nd gen direct fire setup. Maybe no more horse, as some would say, but alot more throttle response! Either or and Jeff is a genius!

I'd like to suggest the MSD 6A setup with the dual output MSD coil. It's like a combination of the 2gdfis and msddfis

Jeff20B 01-07-2005 04:05 AM

A guy on the evil forum bought an MSD brand dual output, or 'DIS' coil for his MSD a little while ago and raved about how much better it was than his previous setup consisting of two coils.
