I don't know if I should ask this question here or in "Technical" but seing as I have a 12A Turbo this seems the right place.

My car is a Eureka and and it has new VDO gauges but i can't get the Tacho to work. I've tried running it of the alternator but that doesn't work (pulses too many times and the reading is about 4000 rpm at idle), So using the coils looks like my only option.

I've tried running it of one coil only (Both leading and trailing) but the rpm is way less than the engine is realing reving. Can anyone tell me how to connect 4 coils to run a VDO Tacho?

you have 4 coils? the factory uses 2 coils, and takes the tacho reading from the trailing. depending on how the 4 coils are wired, its either gonna read right or 1/2 of what it should be



tach should be set to 4 cylinder

Yeah its reading half the amount it should be. I checked to see if it was set on 6 cylinder but instead there's three numbers you can turn on or off. I played around with these and finally got an acurate reading. Thanks for the tip mate!
