well, i'm kind of a newbie at this stuff. and my bf recently bought me my 1985 1st gen rx7 gs and my first homework was the suspension part only because it needs changing... well.. i was wondering.. what kind/type/brand would be great for the car.. and is there any diagrams and manuals that people can send me a link to so i can see what goes where... and possibly print out... and just to study some stuff from.. it'll be a great help =).. thanks very much... and hopefully i do great on changing my own suspension..
(yea.. i know. with the help of the bf.. but he'll most likely make me do it all on my own.. or more like.. me WANTING to do it all on my own..) thanks again! |

Tokico or Koni for struts and eibach or RB for springs.
ISCracing also sells Bilstein struts |
check out http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/
lots of factory diagrams in PDF format.. look under 1st gen - things to read - manuals should get you started ... also hayes manual can be easily purchased |
Before you buy parts, decide what you want for handling, cornering and ride quality. Any of the aftermarket springs will stiffen up the ride quality quite a bit. If you are using this as a daily driver and like some comfort, replace with oem springs. If you want it to corner a little better and still keep the comfort, upgrade the sway bars, along with the Tokico Blues.
I know it's probably heresy to suggest oem springs, but a fresh set will make a noticable difference. If you want it to handle like a skateboard, go all out and do the aftermarket springs, adjustable shocks and sway bars. |
oh okai.. nice. thanks guys for the help. i'll definitely keep those in mind while i "study" a little more about the car itself.
thanks again! =) |
