Ok today I was workin out in the conrty..and passed 2 junks yards..and I thought..dam let me see if they have a GSLSE rear end..So the one I stoped at was a hick..I told him what I needed and he says Yeah I got it..

So he takes me to the car that had the rear end..that "he"took out..

I looked and it was a ****** GSL model..BUT I looked at the FT rotos..and someone did a a swap..The FT rotors didnt look like the 2 peice hub set up..like the GS/GSL this thing had studs in it too..

I go look at the rear end..bad conditon ..very very rusty...looks straight thought..

Yes its a GSLSE rear end..but NOT sure what diffrental in it 3:90? 4:10?

IS there any marks or stamps on it to let me know its a 4:10?

Since the rear end housing is rusted..I will take it apart and get it sandblasted.. then repainted..but use the 4:10 gears in my disc brake rear end..for the track for right now..

Oh yeah....I cannot turn the axels by hand..Im kinda worried..but he says since its been sitting long..and outside.. the car has no rear end damage ...he said hes gonan get it freed for me...

any suggestions?

He wants only 100$ . for it

LOL sounds like it doesn't matter what gears are in there at this point if it is full of water you are prolly going to have to go through that whole rear end.

Focker, I have a GSL-SE tranny you can have, you just need to shake all the metal chunks out of it and turn the radio up loud while you are driving LOL

Can I rebuild that tranny?Do U know whats wrong?

phinsup 07-24-2002 04:24 PM

Well hayes rotary basically told me you are better off buying another tranny that it isn't worth rebuilding. Anyhow the GSL-SE tranny is the same as the GSL tranny, there is a slight difference in the final gear ratio, but nothing you will ever notice and the tranny is not any stronger so there really isn't any advantage.

SoRRoW 07-24-2002 07:03 PM

Do you know any sites...that post manufacture specs?

beyongtheredline.com was good ..but its been whacked for 4 months..I want to see the ratio..I can get a GSL tranny easy..I know where theres 3 of them right now ..in a freinds junk yard..and can get them about 30-50$ a piece for them...BUT I just bought a racing clutch set..and still want to use the one I got..right now I have a 84 GS tranny..So do I need to get a 84..so the tranny shifter sit in right? cause I think I can use a 83 with no problem..
