I purchased an '84 GSL a couple of months ago for $200 from a women I use to work with. I love the little car but when I bought it I was told it needed a new fuel pump because it would'nt start. I put a new fuel pump but I'm just flooding it when I want to start it now because the ignition is not firing. Does someone have a diagram for the ignition that I can see or something? It seems very simple but I cant figure it out. If the distributor was bad I would think it would backfire or something right? Both coils are not firing either. Is there some kind of relay mounted somewhere? What about that thingy next to the fuse box? <--- Sorry I'm FB illiterate. Thanks. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

I don't know that much about about what relay does what. jeff20b is the one that can answer all that. However if the coil is not firing The first place I would go is to the ignitors. If Jeff gets to this I am sure he will give you a precise answer and place to start.

You give me way too much credit. I don't even own a 1st gen. Hmm, check your fuseable links (that's appearantly a common thing to check) and then check for +12V on each terminal of the coils and ignitors. Then check the C terminals of the coils during cranking for a flash (this means the ignitor is actually doing its job and triggering the coil). If there is no flash, the ignitor may be dead. Some have had good ignitors not flash, so the light bulb method of testing doesn't always reveal a bad ignitor.

Who's next to help out?
