Hello all,

I am new to this forum. I have looked everywhere for some basic info on how to chace down wiring prblems. I cant seem to get a spark out of the coils. The engine was running fine when I pulled it from the old 83 RX-7. I have put it into a fibreglass kit car. Having done this before i know i am going to have some ground problems. I am using the old wiring from the RX-7. Being new to rotory engines, I do not have a clue to what all is meant to be happening at the coils. The + and - posts seem to have positive power going to them. Is that right. What can i check to see if I am getting all my grounds right?

Here is the car with motor in it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Donnie

i think on the coils, that the + gets power and the - side is switched by the ignitors on the distributor.

What procedure would I go though to check everything for not having a spark?

Go here and download the correct manual for your year of vehicle you pulled the engine from.

http://foxed.ca/foxed/index.php?page=rx7manual

This can give you the wireing data you need. The igniters on the sides of the distributors in some years, and on the fender apron in others, is just a points eliminator. You need those to make the coils work.

The factory competition manual is there also for free. If you have the disc space get that as well. Back it up to a disc or a memory stick.

I got that hyperlink from Paul Lamars web page/news group. http://www.rotaryeng.net/ A source of information for rotaries in general, and installing rotaries into aircraft.
