Well the dreams of turning my parts car into a 12a BP race car are over.

The story:

I got a call on Thursday from Series1Rx7 asking me if I wanted to make $150. I asked why? Turns out he blew the diff and wanted to buy mine form my series2. Well, due to the fact that it was sitting between 2 trees covered in a tarp in my nans backyard, I declined the offer.

A) Ground was too soft to jack it up

B) Couldn't leave it in a condition where I couldn't move it.

Anyway, a little while later he calls me back and offers me $500 for the whole thing. Well, I told him I'd have a think about it and call him back. I figured, I bought it for $700 before I blew the motor and I've got most of the parts off it i wanted anyway and I really need a bit of extra cash at the moment. So done deal, I rang him back and we organised to meet up and tow it to his house.

Now, by the time we got it to Daniels house it was about 3:00pm and he needed to have it done so he could go to work in the morning. To throw an extra huge spanner in the works, his friend had mangled the mag lock key, so we couldn't remove the back wheels. This made removing the bad diff a mission.

Having not worked on a rx7 for a while, I naturally wanted to get my hands dirty and devoted the rest of my arvo to some manual labour to help a mate out.

To cut a long story short, I managed to get the diff off with the wheels still on, while Daniel pulled the good diff off the s2. We ended up finishing at about 2:00am with everything hooked up minus 1 brake line which had a female thread instead of a male thread. Easily fixable with a hacksaw though.

So the s1 now has 4 wheel disc brakes, and will soon have all the electrics out of the s2.

Whoops, forgot to mention that the s2 had been sitting for about 7 months and when we got it to Daniels house we tried to start it.

It fired up straight away, even though it had no oil pressure and was blowing shitloads of smoke.

Haha.. the s1 still isn't operational, the brake lines took a bit more work, i have had to make up a brake line with both threads, the line is going to the brake shop on tuesday so one end of it can be rolled, and then it will be ready to screw straight in. The s2 isn't blowing as much smoke, got a mate who is gonna weld the blown s1 diff up, and then back into the s2 it goes https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Welded diff, nice. The only problem with that is going around corner, both wheels spin the same and **** hard to drive on wet, not to mention tyre wear. But the best thing is, launching, great fun.

Been there done that.

The s2 won't be hitting wet public roads, so it's alright https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Oh yeah, i was thinking of getting a cheap second hand 12a BP to dump in it.. should be able to pull it off in a few months time.

Why 12A Bport and not 13B?
