ask local race car shops for a tin knocker, the work they do is art.
do it yourself and it WILL look ******* awfull |
i dont think it will. how would you know how my project would come out anyway?
advice on the project only... |
because I too was one of those people who thought it looked easy! Then I tried it and its much harder then it looks.
a real tin knocker works quick, rolls edges, no visable cuts, etc. they are experts for a reason. A amatuer and a pair of snips just cant compete with what a pro can do in a day or two I can paint any car, boat, or plane- dont mean I can paint a portrait |
those pro's started somewhere. most likely on their own car.
Like me. |
hang around some chassis and race shops and check out the interiors- get some ideas from there.

I have found that you can max out tire size from a couple methods besides just tubing, I have been communicating with some businesses that do custom fiberglass materials and found out that they can take a sheet of CF and make flares that extend out the stance of the car (better stability/higher lateral g resistance) and help with tire options for better traction. I have seen it done in Japan and I must say it looks really nice. you could also have the existing flares extended way out too, but then you have to deal with chipped paint...

alot of them make it lose their 7 look about them, almost making them look like a supra or other ricer. The only thing you have to be SUPER craful of. Is be midful that it is a unibody so cutting out parts of the interior especially near the wheels and replacing it with sheet metal is usually not recommended and can almost garantee it will be weakening the structure of the vehicle
