Hi, I have a series 1 with a series 3 motor and now a series 3 carbi. I just bought the car and i am fixing a few problems it has. The engine is in good nick and has good compression. The car runs well and it easy to start.

The problem i have is that if u go to use the secondaries in the carbi, it likes to stutter and lose power etc. To try and narrow the problem down i took the air filter off and gave it a run and it absolutely FLYS!!!!

I replaced the air filter and the carbi thinking that it was the problem and it made on minor improvements.

I has hoping someone might have some suggestions for this probem....i am completely puzzled!?!?!

Cheers,

Steve

nah...it didn't help but thanks anyway.

It seems like it is not burning the fuel properly when the secondaries cut in. The engine just chokes on the extra fuel being dumped in. The guy that had the car before me changed the fuel pump to this really shite diaphram one.

is it possible that the fuel pump is running at too high a pressure?

I am also only getting around 280 - 300 KM tops to a full tank of fuel.

PLEASE SOMEONE!!!!!! I NEED HELP!!!!!?????

I've heard storeies of someone accidentally installing a fuel pump for a fuel injected car. But i think the car wouldnt even move after that.

its possible you are either running out, or getting too much gas.....
