ok, so i think the secondaries on my 12a nikki arent opening. when i get on the throttle it feels like im not getting what i should. plus i had someone shove the throttle to the floor as i looked down into the carb, and only the primaries opened. now im not sure if thats a proper test, but its the best thing i could come up with.
so my question is how do the secondaries work? what should i check? and what can i do to fix it? the more details and/or pics the better, i know nothing https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png thanks guys |
secondaries open under load, in gear.
|
ok, yeah, i thought that might be the case, but i still think they're not opening, so my question remains.
oh and also, i used a g-meter to test the horsepower and after a few runs it gave me a maximum figure of 69rwhp. |
ahhhhh!!! whats with this? take a look at these pictures and tell me if theres somethin wrong, or if its just me. you be the judge.
passenger-side view of the carb with air-cleaner removed [attachment=33700:attachment] again, without flash [attachment=33701:attachment] and this is the rats nest, shouldnt there be hoses where the arrows are? [attachment=33702:attachment] please help.... |
If u cant fix your nikki i have on with the rats nest removed and all the choke b.s. removed it performes quiet well holla if your interested.
|
Yeah, rip out that rats nest it always helps... plus you can get a rebuild kit for that nikki for around $35 - $60 If anything will fix the secondaries a rebuils will....
|
the secondarys only open with vaccuum. sound to me that you have a vaccuum leak. remove the vaccuum accuatted secondaies and on the side of the carb closest to the firewall put a small weld on the armature that rotates with the primaries and poof instant mechanical secondaries. please keep in mind that you will have to roll in to the accellerator as the secondaries go from closed to instant open.

wow, this thread really came back from the dead. I fixed this problem LONG ago, thanks for the advice though.
turned out I overlooked the simplest solution: the linkage had slipped off. |
