thanks to the floods here in florida Im getting my hands on a rx-8 short block. It sucked up some water. Ok, I know its a 6-port. my question is this; can a racing beat carb intake from an FC bolt up to the Rx-8 block. If I ever get my SE out of the body shop I would like to drop the rx-8 block in, after a tear down and rebuild.

no the old 13b 6 port motor manifolds will not work on the rx8 6 port. the engines are very differnt

yes I understand the rotors are different. I know the exghaust exits the intermeidate housings instead of the rotor housings. Its still a 13b and its still a 6-port. so you have seen the two side by side and you know for a fact that the intakes dont match? I supose I will know for my self tomorrow. I figure that worse comes to worse I'll make an adapter plate.

intakes are way off.... renesis is 2" longer, ports are bigger etc etc

why dont you just run the stock intakes with an aftermarket ecu?

in a perfect world I would. I'm almost positive that all I'm getting is the short block. Plus I don't have a real budget for this proposed plan. Im getting this motor for free, Like I said before some retard was driving around flooded streets after the tropical storm that dropped a **** load of rain on us in central florida. So hopefully Its not too fucked up

j9fd3s 09-02-2008 06:21 PM

rotaries actually dont seem to mind water.... just put oil in it, and spin it around, if it sits with water in it, thats very bad

sen2two 09-02-2008 07:00 PM

im in orlando. if you got the motor for free, i'll buy it. or trade for something else you might need.

it takes a custom made oil pan to fit it in a 1st gen. like j9 said its longer than all other 13b's by about 2 inches. plus i have seen both 4 and 6 port RENI side to side. along with a 4 port 13b. a custom intake manifold will have to be made along with custom headers. if you do not have fabbing skills. this will be very costly. im currently putting a 4 port reni in a 1st gen. its a lot more work then putting any other 13b in.

Im not scared I have 6 port oil pans and fb pans I'm sure I can cut and paste the two together and make something work. As far as the header is concerned I'll come up with something. Im currently taking a welding course at s.c.c. If I remember correctly I thought u were building a pp 12a for your fb

sen2two 09-04-2008 02:33 PM

PP 12a...not me. you might be thinking of J9. i know he is.

well, another guy on here cut up to 12a pans to fit. looked pretty good. that would probley be the easiest way to go. headers are easy too. if you can weld. this will be simple. what ECU/Ignition set up you going to run?

i set mine up to use the FC CAS. just swap out the timing gear with and 12a/13b one with the 12a front cover. this will give you motor mounts for the 1st gen too. just have to bend them a little, or cut and weld.

yours is using second gen what? Im kinda a carb guy. not that I have a problem with efi its usually the cost issue plus wires intimidate me but these days I'm all about trying new **** My se is the intended home for the reni she got a bit smash up. I was thinking of going holley big supprise. Get my hands on a racing beat fc intake cut lower section-where intake meets motor. Cut off like two or three inches, Ok then take the lower section of the reni intake, cut in a similar fashion and attach a to b. I dont know i just think a Reni in a 5 letter would be HOT. what are they at the crank 190 or something or a bit higher come on a fb is way lighter than an 8 so it should be fun
