Cut the rust out from behind my rear wheels on the '79 today, replaced it with some *thank god* new metal. All is good, now i have some dodgy bog work to do now.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png *shhh* Then I sell it, then I buy myself a smick '84/'85. Ask drifter about my rust problem :( it's bad.. :P I will hopefully soon have some pictures for you all aswell..

haha.. shhh... your not suppose to publicly announce that type of thing. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png

I'm currently in the process of taking my angle grinder to by roof and boot and engine bay area in an attempt to remove the rusty metal, so that next week I can weld it all up with some new metal. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Yeah, I got a quote for some sheetmetal yesterday from a scrap yard, AUS$18 for 1.2m X 2.4m X 1mm thick. SHould be perfect for my boot and roof. Its really worrying taking a cutting disc on an angle grinder to your roof. I have to keep reassuring myself that its ok, and that it will all be better in the long run. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png

No no, The bits of roof around the sunroof are full of rust, so I have to replace the surround metal.

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Thats definitely the plan anyway.

You wouldn't believe the rust I've found, you'd cringe at it (I did). If it was easy to get at places it would be better to. The boot and roof are nothing compared to the firewall and the windscreen washer panel area. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

I think it was a case of I got what I paid for in the end. I sorta knew what I was getting into though. It was pay $2200 for this one now and have lots of rust, or pay $5000 and still have rust but not as much. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png I stand by my decision. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
