I have two of the nikki carbs and I see people talking about the rats nest but I cant seem to find out what that actually is... I want to mod one of the carbs to get some more power if that is possible?

The rats nest is the cluster of solenoids and vacuum hoses that sit on top of your motor.
|
do I need any of them and what do they do I want to get as much power as I can right now with out spending money... I am gonna buy a new carb at some point
|
Here ya go. http://maz_tutorials.ten15.net/ click on "removing the rats nest" Removing the rats nest can help with making the car more reliable because you remove so many wires and vaccums that can/will leak. My car started running MUCH better once I got it all out of there, and it makes it much easier to work on.

I cant get them to load up... can somebody save it and email it to me

You need to download and install Adobe Acrobat to open the tutorials. The link is also available on the left side of the website where it says "Download Adobe Acrobat Reader (required for all tutorials)". These files are way to large for someone to e-mail you, plus you still wouldn't be able to view them without the program.

I have the program and when I click on the links nothing happens
|
I couldn't get them to load on my dialup either...what I had to do is right click and save the pdf files to my hard drive...then open them...no problems then
|
well I did the rats nest tonight along with a cold air intake and all I can say is the car runs smoother and the bay is so much cleaner... time and money well spent

Cold air intake on a carburetor??
|
Why would it be a problem? I'm planning on making my own out of fibreglass soon https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png I always have been taught that colder air going directly into the engine would help the gas burn better than hot dense air. Altho the mass of my car knowledge is from non-carburated cars, so the tables might be turned when talking about ram-air/cold-air intakes. But I doubt it *shrug* Edumahkate me plZ.
Also a note: I experimented with putting a larger filter in the air canister and locking it down so there was about an inch of open space around the entire canister. This way the carb got more air, but in reality, it was only getting the hot air from the surrounding engine and I noticed a SEVERE lack of horsepower. Put it back to stock and it runs like a champ. I thought I had more air movement thru the engine compartment, but after that little adventure, I'm quite sure it would be a better idea to grab nice cool air from in front of the car, rather over the engine block. goddamnit i'm rambling again. EDIT: fixed for you. (the edit button has about a 10min time limit) |
I was just curious, thats all. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png Never heard of it being done much on a carburated car before.
