83 gsl. mine has two very small cracks in it. when i got it the car came with an extra one that's in perfect condition complete with the metal strip at the base of the windshield w/different vin#. i'm no mech. but would like to replace it. found a list but it talked about taking the hood release cable loose etc. is their a thread somewhere about doing it rather than just a list? thatpoorguy you always give me good advise any thoughts? thanks for any and all help.

I've only pulled the dash on an fd so I don't have firsthand experience with an fb. In general though, a dash can be removed with a flat tip screwdriver, a Phillips, and a quarter inch drive wratchet set. I would start with taking the center column apart first though. Don't force anything, take your time, and if you feel for resistance. Where there's resistance, there's something holding the part down. Even if it's a plastic clip, on the newest fb it's 26 years old. I've seen plastic clips get brittle and break after only 5 yrs.

Moral of the story, take your time and don't force anything lol

tpg, good advise as always. i quess i'm basically pumping myself up to give it a shot. i'm more of a insert tab A into slot B kind of guy ("that's what she said"). a list without the how to not very helpful for me. i just didn't want to get elbow deep in it and find out i needed a left handed widget puller( oh and i wanted it to REALLY easy too.) quess there's nothing to do but to do it. not today though. thanks again (gonna go amour all the new one again and think how good it would look on rhona mitra.)

Just pulled mine a couple of weeks ago and repaired some big cracks. Mine is in a track car so I wasn't too concerned with heat/air ducting, etc. After removing all bolts you can see you have 4 more located in the center part of the dash, 2 on each side of center. Then there's a 5th one located midway between center and the right side. All things considered, a do-able job but once you start you're ALL IN! My biggest obstacle was getting the dash past the roll bar. You won't have that issue. Good luck.
