I've already removed the belt. Does it require plumbing? Or can i just rip out bolts and hoses?
|
Theres a few things to do. (i posted this exact same thread a few months ago)
First think whether you want to keep it to put back in later when/if you go to sell. If not you can cut the hoses, release any presssure first though by the valves on the top of the compressor unit. unbolt the compressor, then remove its bracket, then take out the condensor and other **** from in front of the radiator, then theres a couple of thins you can do with the a/c box in the inside of the car. You can gut it like i did, get a non a/c car and take the connector part from that, or you can leave it alone and plug the connections through the firewall.. |

This pic is from after everything was removed apart from the hoses through the firewall.

You can plug these if you decide to leave the a/c box inside the car.

I have a different ac than that, i dont have the nd one, i got this other one where the line runs from the ac compressor, back along the firewall, across the tranny and heater hoses and thru the firewall by the carb. I heard from one of my friends that you can turn ur ac compressor into a homemade "supercharger". It sounds like a nice concept? Mike? any thoughts on that? Thx guys

drifter has a rhd car so the ac evaporator is on the other side from the us ones
mike |
My car is Aus, so that might be why its different, but in theory, its all the same.
Homemade supercharger out of a a/c?? Sounds like bs and/or dodgy to me. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png |
i knew u would come thru mike, can i just rip it out? or is it complicated? u didn't even answer my question, thx again mike https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif

air that can pass through a compressor. In other words, it would be restrictive to put it in the air flow of your motor. Raul |
https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683621.gif but can you see the rust in my firewall....arrgh....
But I've cut that all out now. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif |

Well, i hope you havent taken it off yet.
The air conditioner uses toxic chemicals to cool down stuff. If you are a nice environment loveing person, you will go get the thing drained. If you are like m... some people.... you will just unscrew it until you hear a HSSSSSSS and then run. leave it for 20 minutes, and then unbolt everything. The gas is toxic, and is heavier than air. If you breathe it, it stays in the bottom of your lungs. I took my AC off, it turned out the ac clutch was phrucked and was draggin down my engine BIG TIME. ~Geoff |

how long ago? it seems your friend is still alive.... perhaps he will survive.
I HEARD (rumor here) that you would have to stand on your head and have someone tap your back rather vigorously to get the gases out. Film it when you do, so if it doesnt actually work at least we will be able to watch it later and laugh our asses off!! ~Geoff |
hahahaha, ur funny geoff, oh like freon? prolly already already leaked out in my rez'd out 7, it really didn't work that well anyway, that **** is wack, phuck the enviroment, we'll all be dead in 50 years, so what the phuck, u feelin me guys?

yeah i hear that, mine only drained for a few minutes. but i took a shower, then forgot about it, so it got like an hour to clear before i took the rest out.
But my engine is soooo much cleaner now!! here is an outdated picture (i have since cleaned it up a bit more, and put an E-Fan in.) http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...21_44_full.jpg picture of the e-fan install: http://users.pullman.com/jsjensen/io...orts%20001.jpg and my ACV blockoff plate: http://users.pullman.com/jsjensen/io...orts%20002.jpg |

There is a misconception going around that we had them delivered cos we never got a first-gen 13B, but the only 12at's here are jap imports. In saying that though, our 84 and 85 (series 3) had all the GSL-SE fruit minus the 13B, including big fuel lines and baffled tank for feeding the turbo. |

nope, they are rare. About as easy to find as rockinghorse ****.

well i dug it up to see if there was anyone on here that was enlightened about the 12at. it was imported by a shop here in pittsburgh called 7 speed. my friend bought it and put it in an 84 gsl then he quickly discovered he had too many projects goin on and had to sell it. and sadly i must sell it too and before i could see it run. i'm in college and can't afford to move forward with this sick project. we couldn't find an ecu or wiring harnes so i have a haltech f10 for it already. i'm askin 3000. i have close to 4000 invested so you can imagine all the goodies that come with it. i'll get some better pics soon.
|
Fair enough,
More pics would be most appreciated, that last one is a little blurry... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif |
