ok I read two full pages about premixing over at rx7club.com and I am lead to believe that premixing is prolly better for me cause I dont really know a lot about this car yet and if the OMP goes out I am screwed. what I was wondering is how to I block off the OMP *DISABLE* and what is the best two cycle oil IYHO. some people are saying that TC-w3 I think is what its called is the best stuff to use. and other are saying that a synthic 2 stoke is better, but I thought a syn. is bad cause it doesnt burn clean. I have an 85 and they said I should use 16oz ever time I fill up. somebody also said something about 50:1 two stroke and 100:1 two stroke... what is the better to use

just get a pice of sheet metal and block off the OMP lines to the front housing, etc.



You can run both your OMP and premix. Its not an "either or".

News Update:



If your car only sees normal road type RPM then 150:1 to 180:1 is very sufficient, much richer and you'll keep fouling plugs after any prolonged 2-3K rpm usage, ie: an hour's constant driving.



Use 100:1 if the motor is going to be seeing prolonged 8000rpm+ usage, ie: PP race motor. if you see a bit of both, go somewhere in the middle

the old IMSA guys does 120:1, its all depends on the owners. If you rebuild your own engines, you can figure out how much to use after a few tear down. I drive my car on the street, and weekend track events. 120:1 is about right for my FD, with the OMP removed.

i talked to donnie at hayes one day about premix and omp action. he said that it's real rare that an engine dies 'cause of a failed OMP; they're very reliable parts. he also mention that there's nothing really wrong with premix, but (at least as respects my old 83 gsl) not only can it foul spark plugs, it can also cause problems with your fuel filter.

when you say all of these 180:1 and 100:1 stuff is that like when you go buy two stroke I should look for 120:1 or something like that or is it how much you put in.. I drive pretty hard on the streets not quite the drag hard but not far off from it. you guys think I should use more then 120:1

nah,

120:1

means 120 parts fuel to 1 part oil

I use 4 oz per fill up with the OMP in place and 8 oz with it removed for what its worth and I havent had plug fouling problems or anything.. car sees mostly high rpm driving.

what kinda oil do I buy... I know two stock but as far as anything else I need to look for on the bottle

As long as its TCW3, its fine. I've been getting Castrol Super Outboard oil.
