I'm selling the motor out of a 1st gen i recently got from a guy that parked it over a year ago and it has just sit since then. i got the car home, put a battery in it and some new gas and it started right up. I drove it around for about 25 minutes to make sure it did not smoke or leak water. I did a compression check on it before i ever started it, instead of after it had ran like your supposed to(i was too amazed that it started so easily to even think about that) Compression numbers were 92 psi front rotor and 94 rear rotor all faces even. Not sure what to think of it, but to mee it seems damn good steal for $325 + $164.19 Shiping. Would it be difficult to drop the new engine in myself or should I still take it to a shop to get it done? (I don't have too much knowledge on it, I can replace my Alt, Batt, change oil and fix little ods and ends, but thats about it) Would the 83 engine fit in without problems on my 84? if no, what would I need to change and is it worth it? (sorry for the long post, just need some input before I decide whether to pass it up or buy it) Thanks, Johannes |
IF those compression numbers are right then I would jump all over it.Sounds like a killer deal.

mine is a 84 12A his is a 83 12a, from what I know both would be Carb. well, most '83's I've seen were carb too.
