Yes, I know there's a parts list in the FAQ.



I just need to be 100% sure I'm ordering/looking for the right parts.



I have an 85 GS that I want to swap a 13b Cosmo into.



According to DirectFreak and RacerX...I need:



LSD (any differences between the GSL-SE/S4 NA/TII LSDs besides gearing?)

TII Coils

New/modified Crossmember

13b Front Cover

GSL-SE Oil Cooler

GSL-SE Radiator



What other basic parts am I going to need, besides the engine and transmission?



I would feel better if I used a different crossmember instead of modifying the existing one; however, I haven't been able to get a part number or locate this part. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I could use some sort of direction with all of this!



I know of I asked before, but I want to make sure I'm doing everything 100% right, as previously stated. Thanks in advance.

You'll need a Standalone system or a blowthru carb setup.A SE or bigger fuel pump.A custom driveshaft.Any you can use the SE crossmember if you want a stocker fit.Thats what I have on mine.A modified tranny mount and some other stuff I can't think of right now.

yeah, fuel system upgrades are a must.



I tried to find the engine mount on the rb site, but theres a script problem.

I will be going standalone, that's for sure.



Now, for this transmission mount, is this something I can order from RB or Mazda?



drifter: RB's site sucks! Where else can you order RB parts besides through Mazdatrix?

You might be able to just slot the stock mount holes where it bolts to the T2 tranny.I know DF has.I had to make a mount setup for mine tho. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

This Front Engine Mount allows any 1974-85 13B engine to be installed into any 12A RX-7 chassis with a minimum of difficulty. (The stock Mazda front engine mount for a 1984-85 13B GSL-SE will not work because of differences in the front cross member.) Just get an 84/85 GSL differential

Keep the Stock Radiator, unless you need a new one ($120)

Any FB Oil Cooler should work, you're gonna have to make lines (-AN) for them though.



Use the stock Transmission for now, until yours breaks..





On a side note -



If you have a good engine now... Just turbo charge it.



Less hassle, and I have seen some very good results from doing it.

All you'll need is an S5 Turbo, a proper carb, a carb hat, a FPR, intercooler and pipes and a Fuel pump.

to get the cosmo engine to physically bolt into the car you have 3 options.



1. put a 74-85 front cover on the cosmo. put gsl-se oil pan on. bolt cosmo to stock tranny, put in car, slot the engine and tranny mount holes as needed (13b is 20mm? longer)



2. put a 74-85 front cover on the cosmo. gsl-se oil pan. buy the racing beat front mount thing (see df's post)



3. put a 74-85 front cover on the cosmo. gsl-se oil pan. find a gsl-se front subframe





to get the cosmo to bolt to a tranny you have 2 options



1. stock tranny; find aftermarket flywheel for an na (or an s5 na flywheel), and bolt it together



2. t2 tranny; find aftermarket flywheel (or s5+ flywheel) and bolt it together





to get the cosmo to run you have 3 basic options



1. carby! like df



2. aftermarket efi, like df



3. use a stock ecu, this is the hard way as you need to find all the little boxes and wire a ton of stuff up. i would suggest the s5 t2 ecu as your best choice, with the s4 t2 and the fd as the runners up. s4 is a little easier to wire, but its slow. fd takes a ton of stuff to make it happy, but theres no afm



turbo's up to you, i suggest a stock fc turbo at least



water pump: run the s4 fc one with the gslse or 12a thermostat cover, this will let you keep the stock water hoses and stuff. s4 is aluminum vs the fb iron vs the cosmo very complex
