My '84 7 has been setting in a guys yard for two years, I found it and bought, after a tune up and several new parts (starter, alt, bat... ect) I drove it this weekend about 100 miles for the break in and got on it pretty good. I LOVE DRIVING IT!!!!!!!
the reason for this message is that a considerable leak has developed. As from what i can see the leak starts (looking at from the driver's side) to the right of the spark plugs about five or so inches back. Any suggestions on what it is? SEAL? Loose bolt? Can someone give a place to start from? It only leaks when the car is running, but when it is running it is a considerable leak. Today is suday and i have free long distance so you can call me and i will call you back cause i need to get this fixed, because i love driving it. 812-371-2767 or email me with suggestions KillerJon31@yahoo.com Thanks in advance Jon |
The oil filter is screwed on to what is called the oil filter piller.
that is bolted to the housing (block) the piller uses o rings to seal,,,the whole engine uses o rings as a matter of fact. there are 2 o rings that seal the piller,,also below where the oil cooler banjo bolt meets the housing,,if you have that. may leak |
Hey Jon, wooffinn here. As Sterling said those little 'o' rings could be your problem. I'd say with the time it has sat round they have probably hardened up. Just check your oil filler tube; in my neck of the woods there isn't technically a seal and my engine developed a leak in the area. That tube is just a press fit , so you should be to wiggle it out. Just clean it and add some sealer[ I'm not sure what's available there, but I use Loctite in my workshop] and slide back in. Just check your oil filter is tight too! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
