ok so i have an 84 gsl with the 12a in it. Usually when i start her up for the first time of the day she blows blue smoke which ive been told is normal and for the rest of the day she won't even when shes cold. Recently shes been doing it everytime the engine cools down completely. Is there any reason for alarm or can someone tell me the reason for this? Could it be that the weathers getting a little colder or maybe that i could have possibly overfilled it with oil? I did do an oil change a couple weeks ago and it wasn't blowing smoke every time i cold started her when it was warmer so im maybe thinking its cuz its cold. can anyone verify this please and thank you.

could possibly be what you think. how many miles does the engine have?

next time you do an oil change try replacing a quart (or two) of oil for a quart (or two) of lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer. It has been shown that it helps worn oil control rings and seals and even slowed or stopped the infamous dowel oil pin leak.

turns out my tranny vacuum modulator went bad. At first it was symptoms of just burning a little more oil at startup but then it started showing visible signs of ATF and oil burning. Got it fixed and the tranny fluid stopped burning along with extra amounts of oil. the ATF leak cleaned out all the carbon deposits but started making a goop in my engine so it didn't seal correctly i guess which led to more amounts of oil being burned. Does Lucas also make an oil or do they have just that oil additive?

Autozone just started carrying Lucas motor oil (both mineral and synthetic). Very good stuff. I would recommend 20/50 weight in non-synthetic. It's what I've been running for the last couple of race seasons. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Also, your car will love you if you dump a can of Seafoam in the tank every month or two. Does a great job of getting carbon buildup and sludge out of the combustion areas. I usually feel a significant power increase once I do this, so you can tell the stuff builds up pretty fast...
