OK so I got my "83" engine dropped in, and the harness was cut on it, no biggie, there was still enough wire to work with.

So I wired the YEL/BLU wire coming from the leading ignitor to the leading coil and YEL/GRN from the trailing ignitor to the trailing coil. The BLK/WHT all seem to go to ground eventually so I grounded them directly to the battery ground.

Now I'm getting no spark. At all. I even tried a direct jumper from the ignition switch to the leading coil, still no spark.

Should I have wired the BLK/WHT's up to the coils or what? How can I check my ignitors and make sure they are good? I just want the car to start so I can move it around, this winter I plan to re-wire the whole car and go to MSD ignition, but I need the car mobile for now.

Also I noticed my disty's are different between the engines so I was just wondering which is better. The "83" engine has the ignitors on the outside of the disty, like on the sides of it, and the "original" one doesn't. Should I switch the distributors? I was getting spark with the old motor (just no compression).

The black/white cable is your power source. its a key-hot wire. you need to connect it to the positive terminal on the coil(s). Hope this helps

After some reasearch, I've decided to go back to the old distributor for now off the old motor. At least then I was getting spark and my tach worked...

Actually :p I got it working. Since mine is an '80 it had the right coils to directly wire them up to the ignitors. She fired right up with some starting fluid. But now I need to change my thread to "No Motherf***ing Fuel" and "Holy Motherf***ing Vacuum Leak".

It's all good, the Holley is going on in a matter of a week or so... I just wanted to make sure the thing would fire up to begin with.

I think every car on this board started out that way, hehe. I had headaches beyond belief getting mine up and running, but

it's now been a pretty dependable car for over a year. The only big deal was the alternator kept going out on it. I went through

two bosche alternators before I figured out they suck. Been trouble free for almost a year on a rebuilt from Advance. I also went through

the intermittent spark and the no mother******* fuel annnnnd Holy mother******* vacuum leak, haha. I feel your pain. Good luck!!,,,,BB
